SarBay Fest 2015 #SarbayPaMore

Disclaimer: This post is all about a newbie witnessing his first beach festival and giving his comment and reception about it. :)

Hi there everyone.. I've recently been to SarBay Fest and I admit, it was my first experience on these kind of events. They're similar to Rave parties in Davao, or Summerfrolic in Davao Oriental.

Anyway, these events always involve liquor, loud EDM music, and non-stop dancing with a crowd of people bunched together on the dancing floor.

THE SETTING

The festival took place in Sarangani Province, which is an estimated 3-4 hour trip from Davao City using a private vehicle (depending on your achievable speed limit). When travelling from Gensan to SarBay, you would see a very good view of rolling hills and the sea. There was even this overview/viewing cliff when you arrive at GLAN. I had a picture there myself. :)

The SarBay Festival is an event that takes place on a long bay, lined up with different beach resorts, but the main event (as they say), would always take place near White Haven resort.

As we tried to park our vehicle, we were stopped by LGU personnel, and asked us for an environmental fee of Php.30.00. Good thing they were thinking of the environment, to prevent the 'environmental concern' that happened last year.
As we tried to look for a spot for our vehicle, we all concluded that most of the areas were UNSAFE.
Healthy tip for the future: I can understand that they put parking spaces near the beach for tourists/visitors to conveniently walk into, but the places they picked were surrounded with coconut trees. These trees poses risk of damage to private property (e.g cars, motorcycles), like potentially falling coconuts. The organizers should have conducted an activity to remove coconuts from the trees, or secure it with a net or something. Clearly, this was never thought of.

SECURITY

The security was good. They were visible all throughout the event, which is a definite 5/5 ranking for me. That kept the peace and order intact. Although there were some minor incidents, what would you expect? Drunk people in groups, dancing and bumping each other in the night, these would fit the perfect equation for starting unexpected 'things' to happen.

THE FOOD

Food choices during the event, was satisfactory. There were an array of vast delicacies you can choose from, ranging from the cheapest to the expensive ones. As the event was held on the beach, there were repeated servings of grilled food. Some of these grilled food even smelled funny, 'rotting' would be the best description.

THE CROWD

The festival is an event that has no admission/entrance fee. Therefore, it is expected to see people of mixed background, attitude, values, etc. If you're the type of person that doesn't want to mingle with people that are classified as below average status in society, then this festival is not for you... Wait, let me rephrase that, PARTYING is never for you. Because this event, as I understand it, deals with socializing with people. If you're the introverted type, this place is a No-No for you.

THE CROWD = (BOYS > GIRLS)
BOYS = (Homosexuals, Bisexuals, Transgender, Crossdressers > Straight)

The equation above is 'my' summary of the event's crowd. Truth be told, there were more males gathered in packs, than females that participated in the event. When you try to classify these males, there were less straight men and more of the opposite. If there were females, they were often accompanied with partners, newlyweds, etc.

So in other words, if you're gay and you wanna mingle, this party is definitely for you! Jocks, Twinks, Hunks, Bears, Geeks, you name it, they have it!!!

Here are some of the cuties that I spotted (and luckily took a picture) during that time. HAHAHA.

Too bad these are the only pictures I took despite the flooding hotties during that time.

THE ACTIVITIES

I wouldn't enumerate the activities that went on during the event because you can look it up on google. However, I would like to mention the most exhilarating activity that we were a part of, and that was the FOAM PARTY and the DANCING. Hahaha.. It was so great. People were laughing and chanting, with smiles on their faces. We were drenched with sweat, foam, and alcoholic drinks (because someone was waving a bottle of emperador lights in the crowd). IT was a night to remember.

So, there you have it guys! The event was a blast :) Although there were a few hiccups, it still ended great. I already planned on part 2 next year. We may even see each other there my dear readers. ;) Till next time! Lovelots!!
